Boeheim says Orange were “overestimated”

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – When Syracuse opened the season with 25 straight wins, there was talk of a possible National Championship in their future. Since then, though, SU has lost five of the last seven heading into the NCAA Tournament.

“I think we probably were overestimated a little bit when we were 25-0,” said Syracuse Head Coach Jim Boeheim.

Still, the late-season struggles don’t seem to worry Boeheim.

“Last year we lost five out of our last six games and went into the tournament. The tournament’s a different thing. You can start playing well in one game, and all of a sudden you can get on a roll,” said Boeheim.

The Orange tip off against MAC champion Western Michigan Thursday at 2:45pm at First Niagara Center. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
