JAVA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies say a man attacked a woman in his home and refused to allow her to leave and seek medical care.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office says Monday night, Kenneth Pleace got into a verbal argument with a female acquaintance inside his Town of Java home. The altercation escalated and turned physical, and deputies say the 36-year-old man assaulted the woman.
She tried to leave, and authorities say Pleace forced her back into the home. After a period of time, she was able to escape and seek medical care.
Deputies arrested Pleace on charges of second degree strangulation, second degree menacing, third degree assault, second degree coercion and second degree unlawful imprisonment.
He was taken to the Wyoming County Jail on $10,000 bail and is due back in court in May.
