Hackett to start for Sabres Thursday

EDMONTON (WIVB) – Yet another new face will be in the lineup Thursday night, with goalie Matt Hackett set to make his first start for the Sabres against Edmonton.

Hackett, who is with the team on an emergency call-up, has 14 games of NHL experience – all of them with Minnesota. He was one of the players Buffalo acquired from the Wild in last year’s Jason Pominville trade.

Nathan Lieuwen, fresh of his first career NHL start Tuesday night, will serve as the backup while Michal Neuvirth continues to recover from an injury. Jhonas Enroth did not even make the trip with a lower body injury of his own.

Buffalo takes on Edmonton Thursday night at 9:30pm.
