Police: man parked his girlfriend’s car on railroad tracks before crash

John Ridlespurg

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – Hamburg Police say a man parked his girlfriend’s car on the railroad tracks on Bayview Road after a domestic incident and let it get hit by a train.

A Norfolk Southern train struck the unoccupied vehicle at the crossing around 9 p.m. The vehicle was demolished in the crash, but no one was injured.

Bayview Road between Lakeview and Willowdale Avenues was closed for hours as police investigated. Officers were led to 45-year-old John Ridlespurg, who they say purposely parked the vehicle on the tracks to spite his girlfriend following an argument.

Ridlespurg is being held in the Town of Hamburg Police lockup pending arraignment on numerous charges.
