Police warn of suspicious man approaching kids in Amherst

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Amherst Police are warning residents of a suspicious man who approached children outside of a school Thursday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., two girls were approached by a man in a vehicle at the corner of Cherrywood and Birchwood while they were walking home from Heim Middle School. The male driver stopped his vehicle and asked the girls if they needed a ride. The girls ran home and the man drove off in an unknown direction.

The man is described as a white male between 40- to 50-years-old wearing flannel pajamas and red glasses. The only description of the vehicle is that it is red in color.
