Airline employee convicted of filing false claim

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Amherst man is accused fraudulently overstated the amount of tax payments withheld from his wages, between tax years 2007 and 2011. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 53-year-old Marc Walker, of Amherst, was working for American Airlines.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Walker claimed he was entitled to tax refunds of $46,278 for those years, $23,694 which he received. Walker was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay $23,694 in restitution.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says the conduct was uncovered during a civil audit, and when they asked him to verify the withholding amounts, he submitted fake W-2 statements. When the auditor received the true W-2 forms from American Airlines, the case was sent to the IRS criminal division. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
