Canisius advances to AHA Championship

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – The 7th seed in the Atlantic Hockey tournament is heading to the title game, with Canisius knocking off top seed Mercyhurst tonight, winning 5-4 in double overtime.

Stephen Farrell ended the longest game in program history with a goal in the second OT, sending the Griffs into the AHA finals for the second year in a row.

Tony Capobianco had a career-high 58 saves to preserve the victory.

The Griffs will take on Robert Morris in Saturday’s finals at 7:05pm.
