Ex food pantry director accused of stealing

NEWFANE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A former food pantry director is now facing felony charges. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says a large amount of money was missing from the Migrant Ministry Food Pantry, at the First Baptist Church, in Newfane.

The sheriff’s office says 53-year-old Ofelia Carmona, of Appleton, is the former director of the pantry. They report she was responsible for the management of the food pantry funds.

Carmona was charged with felony first-degree scheme to defraud and felony third-degree grand larceny. She will be arraigned in Town of Newfane Court in April.
