Teammates visit Jim Kelly, raise his spirits


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – They may not play at the Ralph anymore, but these former Buffalo Bills will always stand with their quarterback.

Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith and Andre Reed went to visit Jim Kelly on Friday at his home. The former quarterback is holding an icepack to his face. He undergoing treatment for a recurrence of oral cancer.

Kelly’s daughter, Erin, sent out the photo of the group on Twitter saying, “Once a team… Always a team. Ever since his teammates walked in the door he has been smiling and laughing!”

News 4 caught up to Andre Reed at an autograph session Friday night.

He said, “We feel like he’s a brother to me, he’s a brother to me. So many people are behind him. We joked, we laughed, that’s just what we do and I think he’s in for a long haul. It’s very saddening to see him have to go through this.”
