Teen convicted in 16-year-old’s murder

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 15-year-old boy was convicted of second-degree murder, after a week-long trial in Erie County Court. Myles Taylor was convicted of shooting and killing 16-year-old Kelmayne Jones in July.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says Taylor shot Jones after  a fistfight involving one of Taylor’s friends. The DA’s office says Taylor fled, discarded the murder weapon and tried to have a friend destroy the evidence.

Taylor was convicted on second-degree murder and second-degree criminal weapon. Because he is a juvenile, he could face a maximum of 15 years to life behind bars when he is sentenced in April.
