Investigators seek help in arson case

BATAVIA, NY (WIVB) – Genesee County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking the public’s help in a case of arson from that took place earlier this year.

Police believe that someone entered an unlocked storage room in the Batavia Bed, Bath and Beyond store on January 27th and set fire to unspecified items. Nearly every item in the store was damaged by the 2 alarm fire that followed. The store has not yet reopened.

Friday, investigators released 3 surveillance photos of customers that were at the store that day.  In a statement to The Batavia Daily News, Investigator Kristopher Kautz said the individuals are not considered suspects, they are just people “we’d like to ID for interviews and who were at the store and may have seen something.”

Kautz added that they are working on several leads but no suspects have been identified yet.
