Man allegedly tried smuggling drugs into Canada

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Canadian man could face serious charges after border patrol agents say he tried to smuggle drugs across the border from New York.

Officials say Karone Johnson was taken into custody at the Rainbow Bridge last week. Johnson was chosen for random inspection at the bridge in Niagara Falls.

That is when officers noticed screws from a speaker box appeared to be tampered with. Officials say five packages of methamphetamines were found in the box.

The 21-year-old was detained and turned over to Homeland Security.
