Inmate faces charges for assault on an officer

ALDEN, NY (WIVB) An inmate at the Wende Correctional Facility is facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting a corrections officer Tuesday afternoon.

The officer was in the process of locking Allen Ector in his cell, when the inmate struck the officer several times in the face with a closed fist, according to authorities.

Ector was quickly restrained by the security staff at Wende. The corrections officer was transported to the facility emergency room before being taken by ambulance to St. Joesph’s Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Acting Commissioner Anthony J. Annucci said, ”These acts of violence will not be tolerated.  We will prosecute any perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law, and we will also file internal charges against inmate Ector through our disciplinary system.”

Ector is serving 4 years for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
