No jail for man driving on license revoked 18 times

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo man who had his driver’s license away more than a dozen times and was again caught behind the wheel won’t spend any time in prison.

Erie County Court Judge Michael D’Amico sentenced 31-year-old Damario James to five years probation on Wednesday. James admitted he was driving on Fillmore Avenue despite having a revoked license.

Judge D’Amico said, “I’m going to reserve the jail space for people committing other crimes. I’ll put you on probation. Let me tell you something: if you have another violation, I’m putting you in jail.”

Over the last 10 years, James has had his driver’s license suspended or revoked 18 times.
