Construction to impact rail service for next six months

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – After the removal of a set of arches from the Metro Rail tracks near Fountain Plaza, which will delay train service this Saturday, the rail service will experience a bigger delay as it moves to a single track operation.

The NFTA announced the arches will be removed Saturday and train service to that area of Main Street will not begin until 1 p.m. In the interim, the NFTA will provide bus service from the Allen Medical Campus station to the Erie Canal Harbor station. All inbound travelers will be picked up or let off on Pearl Street, while all outbound travelers will be picked up or let off on Washington Street.

Then, beginning Sunday, Metro Rail service will be down to a single track for the next six months as Main Street undergoes construction. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
