Three fires keep Buffalo crews busy

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Fire crews were called to three separate daytime fires on Thursday.

A vacant home on Rich Street proved to be a difficult blaze to extinguish.

“Companies got on location, heavy fire on the first floor, second floor, had power lines down in the middle of the street. They were just popping, snapping and jumping around, so we had a couple of obstacles to deal with,” Div. Chief John Mogavero said. “Trying to get enough water in this area was a challenge. We pump a lot of water out of our arial devices sometimes it gets to be problematic for our old water system that we have. We overtax it at times. So try to move rigs around and get enough water was a challenge.”

No one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
