Chris Walker is a March scholar athlete

WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) – This month, two of our scholar athletes share some DNA. We showcased Taylor Walker and now we’re honoring her twin brother, Chris.

Chris is an accomplished senior at West Seneca West in both the classroom and in athletics. He’s received numerous MVP awards and academic honors.

But he says he is most proud of being a three-year captain on varsity basketball.

“It just shows how my peers look at up to me and how much I can support them and they support me,” he explained.

Those leadership qualities transcend beyond athletics.

U.S. history and sociology teacher Joe Cantafio said, “Chris always brings a great insight. He is always prepared, he is always active in any class discussion, and brings that leadership role in to the classroom.”

Chris’s dream is to follow a career path that includes his love for sports.

“I actually want to be a TV sports broadcaster. I aspire to be on ESPN one day,” he said.

As he reaches to achieve his own dream, he hopes his peers can learn a thing or two from his journey.

Chris said, “Just that if you work hard and put your mind to it you can do anything you want, whether it’s being a sports broadcaster or going to college to play a sport. Just anything you want to do you can do if you put your mind to it.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
