Girgensons to return Saturday

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – After missing eleven games, rookie Zemgus Girgensons will be back in the Sabres lineup Saturday night.

Girgensons practiced with the team Friday morning, after staying behind in Buffalo during the team’s five-game road trip that wrapped up Thursday night. The 2012 first-round draft pick has six goals and 14 assists this season in 61 games.

Matt Hackett will get another start as the team’s goaltender Saturday night, despite allowing four goals in the first period Thursday night against Nashville.  Sabres interim head coach Ted Nolan said today, he likes Hackett’s “competitive spirit.”

Tyler Myers will miss a second straight game Saturday, still recovering from his collision with a goal post Tuesday against Montreal.

The Sabres take on Tampa Bay Saturday night at 7pm. The team will honor former goalie Dominik Hasek before the game, formally inducting him into the team’s Hall of Fame. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
