BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – It’s a proud day for one of the greatest Buffalo Sabres ever to hit the ice. Dominik Hasek will be inducted into the Sabres Hall of Fame before Saturday’s game.
It’s the first of two honors, coming his way. At some point next season, the Sabres will retire his #39 and raise his jersey to the rafters at First Niagara Center. Hasek will be the seventh Sabres player to have his number retired, joining Gilbert Perreault (No. 11, retired in 1990); Rick Martin (No. 7, retired in 1995); Rene Robert (No. 14, retired in 1995); Tim Horton (No. 2, retired in 1996); Danny Gare (No. 18, retired in 2005); and Pat LaFontaine (No. 16, retired in 2006).
The team will honor him prior to Saturday’s game against Tampa Bay for his Hall of Fame induction. The game is set for a 7pm start, but the ceremony will likely begin around 6:50pm.
