“The King” visits woman as she celebrates 25 years on the job

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Some employers celebrate 25 years on the job with a watch, or maybe a special pen, but a special worker at Allentown Industries deserved something even greater. “The King,” himself!

A song and dance with Elvis was just part of the party for Sandy Weiskopff Friday at her home in Cheektowaga. She spent the last quarter century working with the group that provides opportunities for people with developmental disabilities, and they say there’s no one like her.

Heritage Centers Vocational Program Manager Jordana Bryan said, “I think she’s amazing. She’s very strong willed. She’s a very pleasant, pleasant woman to work with. She’s so happy every day when she comes in. And she always gives me her little knuckle sandwich every morning when she comes in every morning.”

Bryan says they really wanted to make today special for Sandy, not only for her years of hard work, but because she has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and won’t be with us much longer. However, the memories of her smile and spirit will inspire those who knew her for years to come.
