Spa raises money for western NY heroes

TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – In the Town of Tonawanda, a spa sold treatments and gave the proceeds to a group that helps deployed veterans and their families.

Spa workers donated their time for the fundraiser at the Salon Professional Academy.

The money raised supports “Western New York Heroes.”  Spa owners wanted to help not only veterans, but families of those who lost loved ones in the service.

“We’re very fortunate, that a lot of the companies that donated also donated services to Gold Star Families.  Gold Star families are someone who has lost a son or daughter, husband or wife to a conflict or war. That was a wonderful thing that we were able to invite them here today and all of their services were complimentary due to people’s generosity on their donations,” Donna Costanzo, the committee chairperson said.

Organizers hope to provide about 200 spa treatments.. including manicures and facials.. during this event. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
