Driver accused of being drunk, providing alcohol to teen

PORTLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two men were arrested early Monday morning after State Police stopped a car being driven erratically on I-86 in the Town of Portland.

Troopers say the driver, 36-year-old Martin Gomez III of Bradford, PA had a noticeable smell of alcohol around him when he was pulled over around 7:15 a.m. He was placed through field sobriety tests, which authorities say he failed, and his BAC was reportedly .13 percent.

Andrew Owens, an 18-year-old passenger in the vehicle, was placed under arrest after K-9 Officer Kubi scented drugs on his person. The Bradford, PA man is facing charged of criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of alcohol under the age of 21.

Gomez is facing charged with DWI, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and giving or selling alcohol to a person under age 21.

Both Owens and Gomez were taken to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail.
