Protestors stand behind student over T-shirt

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – A battle over a student’s T-shirt fueled a protest outside Grand Island High School Monday night.

The boy was suspended earlier this month when he refused to either take-off or turn his NRA T-shirt inside out. These protestors say they rallied to show support for the student’s second amendment rights.

The shirt violated the school’s dress code and the boy was suspended for insubordination.

The district did not comment on the issue Monday night, saying it would be addressed at a meeting on April 22. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
