Lord Amherst Hotel to be closed for year-long renovation

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – For the next year, the Lord Amherst Hotel will be closed as it is transformed into an up-to-date boutique hotel.

Iskalo Development announced Tuesday the hotel will close April 14 and won’t re-open until the Spring of 2015. Iskalo is also developing the 137-room Hyatt Place Hotel and a restaurant on the property it bought in 2011 along Main Street, and the developer says the new Lord Amherst Hotel will be a part of its hospitality campus when completed.

The hotel was built in 1962 and Iskalo says the integrity of the building and its original designer, renowned local architect Duane Lyman, will be maintained while updating it with upscale amenities and infrastructure.
