Police arrest convicted sex offender over address change

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Batavia Police were searching for a convicted sex offender until he walked into the station to change his address and was promptly arrested.

According to police, 30-year-old Wayne Potter violated the terms of the sex offender registry act and had failed to report a change of address. Officers had been looking for Potter, who was convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl in 2003, since last week.

Tuesday night, WHEC in Rochester reports Potter entered the police station to report a change in address and was taken into custody.
