Two drivers crash into guide rails, both charged with DWI

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – In separate crashes, two drivers crashed into guide rails, and deputies say both were driving drunk.

Monday night around 7 p.m., the Erie County Sheriff’s Office took 22-year-old Alexis Raepple of Grand Island into custody for DWI after she crashed into a guide rail on Whitehaven Road at the ramp for I-190. Her BAC was reportedly .23 percent, which is almost three times the legal limit.

Then in Buffalo around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, deputies stopped 37-year-old Raymone Speed of Buffalo from driving the wrong way onto Rt. 33. Authorities say Speed had crashed into a guide rail on East Delevan Avenue while driving drunk and then tried driving the wrong way down a ramp onto Rt. 33 in his heavily damaged vehicle. Speed refused a breath test. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
