Man allegedly attacked resident, ex-girlfriend

PORTVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Portville man is accused of breaking into a home and attacking the resident inside and his ex-girlfriend.

State Police were called to a home on State Route 417 around 6 p.m. on Monday where they took 29-year-old Timothy Hammond into custody. Troopers say Hammond broke into the home, attacked the resident, and then pushed and choked his ex-girlfriend.

Hammond’s ex-girlfriend was uninjured. The resident was taken to Olean General Hospital for a nasal injury.

Hammond is charged with first degree burglary, second degree harassment and obstruction of breathing. After being arraigned, he was taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $5,000 bail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
