State loses bid to shut down Amigone crematory

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – The state has apparently lost its bid to permanently shut down the controversial Amigone crematory on Sheridan Drive in the Town of Tonawanda.

According to the Buffalo News, the State Supreme Court has dismissed a petition for a permanent injunction that was filed last September by the State Attorney General.

For years, neighbors have complained about the facility, saying it generates offensive odors and soot.

In the past Amigone has said it’s reviewing operations and “continuing every effort to be a good neighbor.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
