Aurubis workers reach tentative contract agreement

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – United Steel workers are still on the job at Aurubis Worldwide. The Local 593 reached a tentative contract agreement with the company Wednesday night.

Details of the agreement haven’t been released. Employees will vote on the deal this Saturday.

Early Tuesday morning, about 100 of the 500 workers hit the picket line. Picketers blocked the entrance to the plant, stopping other workers from entering the building. A handful of Aurubis Worldwide security personnel tried to clear the way. They were helped by Buffalo Police officers. The picket ended about a half hour later.

Aurubis workers deal with metal production and other raw materials.
