Third person commits suicide in Cattaraugus County Jail

LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A third person has committed suicide in the Cattaraugus County Jail in Little Valley.

No details about the inmate have been released, but the sheriff’s office confirmed the death Thursday night.

Last October, an inmate was found unresponsive in his cell. His death was ruled a suicide and investigators found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Then in January, a federal prisoner committed suicide by hanging in the Court Street jail. He was in the custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Office and had been in the jail for six days.
