Blues top Sabres 2-1, Foligno injured

Marcus Foligno

ST. LOUIS (WIVB) – A late surge wasn’t enough, with the Sabres falling to St. Louis 2-1 Thursday night and losing forward Marcus Foligno in the process.

Foligno suffered a lower body injury barely a minute into the game. He had to be helped off the ice and did not return. Sabres head coach Ted Nolan said the injury could be season-ending, with only six games remaining.

Cody Hodgson scored the Sabres’ only goal of the night on a power play one-timer with less than one minute left in the game to pull Buffalo within one, but that would be as close as they would get.

Brian Elliott made 24 saves to pick up the win for St. Louis.

The Sabres travel to Detroit to face the Red Wings Friday night.
