Jim Kelly attends NY Knicks game before beginning treatment

NEW YORK (WIVB) – Jim Kelly, who will begin undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for a cancer recurrence on Monday, is out of the hospital for the weekend.

The Hall of Fame quarterback and his family took the opportunity to enjoy a New York Knicks Game at Madison Square Garden.

Kelly is said to be in tremendous pain, but he seemed in good spirits Friday night.

“I really probably shouldn’t even be here tonight. I brought my daughter with me. She made the dean’s list, so I had to give her a little surprise for what she did in school. And I’m very proud of her,” he said.

The former Buffalo Bills quarterback thanked his supporters, whom he said have had a tremendous impact on him.

“We’ve had just such a big outpouring of prayers, which I definitely need, and support, not only from people in Western New York, but from all over. It makes me feel good that there are so many people praying for me out there,” he said.
