Officers seize pot at Peace Bridge

FORT ERIE, N.Y. (WIVB)- The Canada Border Service Agency says officers seized about 161 pounds of marijuana at the Peace Bridge, in Fort Erie.

The agency reports that a commercial vehicle declared the goods as okra, on March 20th. During an examination, officials found it to be 61 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana.

The driver was arrested and turned over the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

CBSA Southern Ontario Region Director Rick Comerford said, “I am very proud of the work performed by CBSA officers. Our officers are the first line of defence in protecting Canadians and keeping our communities safe from criminal activity associated with the smuggling of illegal drugs.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
