HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – A principal in Hamburg put his hair on the line to encourage his students to read.
On Friday, students at Saints Peter and Paul Community School watched as their principal had his head shaved. Students passed their goal of reading books for a total of 150,000 minutes in 40 days.
Principal Patrick Riester said, “The motivation of seeing their principal bald is a big part of the motivation, but the real point is if they’re hooked into ready then that’s building a life-long love of reading.”
In the past, Riester has also allowed students to slime him with green goo as a reward for their reading efforts.
