BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – HARBORcenter and Erie Community College announced a partnership Tuesday that will see the ECC Kats play home games at the new sports and entertainment complex in downtown Buffalo next season.

ECC will play on one of two NHL-sized ice rinks. There will be enough seating for 1,800 people.

The hockey team competes in Region III of the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association and the American Collegiate Hockey Association. They compete in 26 regular season games, and won a national championship in 2011.

This partnership is the latest for the HARBORcenter. Canisius College Hockey and the Buffalo Junior Sabres Youth Organization will also call HARBORcenter home.

HARBORcenter is set to open this fall next to First Niagara Center. In addition to two ice rinks, it will also feature a sports bar, a Tim Horton’s Cafe and Bake Shop and a 750-space parking ramp.

A Marriott hotel will open in the spring of next year.
