BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo Zoo introduced one of its newest residents on Wednesday.

The zoo welcomed an ocelot kitten and to its M&T Bank Rainforest Falls exhibit. Keepers in the exhibit named the spunky little girl “Arieta,” who was born to first time parents Pedro and Ayla on December 10, 2013.

Arieta is said to a fast learner and very active in the exhibit. She and her mother Ayla are on exhibit daily from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimates that there are a total of one million ocelots living in the wild, but births in captivity are very rare.
