Girgensons scores twice, but Sabres fall 4-2

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Zemgus Girgensons found the net twice, including a highlight-reel worthy strike in the the third period, but it wasn’t enough in a 4-2 loss to Detroit Tuesday night.

Girgensons gave Buffalo the lead in the second period, only to see the Red Wings score three in a row.

The game marked the return to the lineup for Chris Stewart, Marcus Foligno, and Torrey Mitchell. Stewart missed 16 games with a leg injury. Both Stewart and Foligno were originally thought to be out for the season.

The Sabres hit the road to face the Rangers Thursday night at 7pm, with only three games remaining in the season. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
