BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown will be joined by students of Public School 32 Bennett Park Montessori on Thursday to launch the 13th annual ‘Reading Rules! Kids Summer Reading Challenge.’

The kickoff event will take place at 2:45 p.m. at the school’s library on Clinton Street.

The program is designed to help students entering grades K-12 improve their reading and writing skills.

Brown began the ‘Reading Rules’ program in 2001, when he was serving in the state Senate, as a way to tackle the literacy problem in the City of Buffalo.
