Suspicious man approaches 13-year-old girl

SILVER CREEK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Another incident of a suspicious man approaching a young child has been reported in Western New York, this time on the southern tier.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies say just before 4 p.m., a 13-year-old girl walking on Bennett State Road near Silver Creek Central School was asked by a man around 50- to 60-years-old if she wanted a ride in his green SUV/Jeep-style vehicle. The girl kept walking and shortly after called authorities.

Deputies were unable to find the man, who was wearing glasses and had white hair with a mustache, or his vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office.

In recent weeks, there have been separate incidents of men approaching children in North Buffalo, Amherst and Orchard Park.
