Swiss firm buys Niagara Chocolate

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Chocolat Frey, a Swiss firm, has bought SweetWorks, known locally as Niagara Chocolate/SweetWorks.

SweetWorks operates a production plant on Genesee Street in Cheektowaga that employs 200 workers. They also run a plant in Toronto, Ontario that employs 250 workers.

SweetWorks expects to keep current management and staff in place.

The deal is retroactive to the first of the year.
