MARILLA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Town officials are set to meet Thursday night at Marilla Town Hall, regarding the storage of biowaste on a local farmer’s property.

News 4 has learned the town board is expected to vote to extend an existing moratorium on storage, processing and spreading of biowaste. The current moratorium ends on May 8.

Last month, the DEC granted Sustainable BioPower LLC, owned by Quasar, the right to store biowaste in an existing concrete tank on that farmer’s land.

Many neighbors are concerned about the impact storage would have on the environment and their health.
