BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – In preparation for Walk MS on May 3, three young Western New Yorkers joined News 4’s Jacquie Walker in the studio Friday night to record a public service announcement.

All three of these guests, Rachel Jordan, Stephanie Horne, and Derek McIntyre, have multiple sclerosis, a chronic and unpredictable disease of the central nervous system. They will each be leading a team of walkers in the fundraising walk on May 3 in Buffalo and they understand the importance of research to find the cause and potentially a cure for MS.

Western New York has one of the highest rates of MS in the entire country and nobody knows why. News 4 has sponsored events with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for more than 25 years because of the high incidence of MS in this area. During the past quarter century a number of new treatments for MS have been developed, some of them pioneered right here in Western New York, but there is no cure.

You’ll be seeing the PSA on the air on Channel 4 in just a few days. It will serve as a reminder that registration is already open for Walk MS through the National MS Society website.
