NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – State Police say the use of a taser forced a fleeing driver to stop running from troopers.
Troopers pulled over Derelle Palmer of Niagara Falls on Sunday and say they could smell marijuana emanating from his vehicle. The 24-year-old was placed through field sobriety tests, which police say he failed, and when he was told he was being arrested for DWI, police say Palmer took off running.
Police gave chase, and after a brief foot pursuit, troopers utilized a taser to get Palmer to stop.
He was taken into custody and charged with DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, second degree obstruction of governmental administration, and several other vehicle and traffic violations.
Palmer is due back in court at a later date.
