WNY receiving $5.3M towards pothole repair


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – To help counties and local governments recover from this year’s damaging winter, the state budget included an additional $40 million for pothole repairs.

The brutal cold throughout the state caused an explosion in the number of seasonal potholes, and many drivers have suffered severe damage to their vehicles as a result. In all, the eight counties of Western New York will receive around $5.3 million towards pothole repairs.

This breakdown represents the total amount that all county and local governments will receive from the state:

  • Allegany – $597,192.45
  • Cattaraugus – $683,991.06
  • Chautauqua – $872,389.90
  • Erie – $1,697,584.93
  • Genesee – $322,795.51
  • Niagara – $591,994.38
  • Orleans – $255,996.87
  • Wyoming – $353,595.31
