Groups prepare for fishing season

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – Several groups are getting area waterways ready for fishing season by stocking brown trout at Hyde Park Lake in Niagara Falls and at Gill Creek on Friday.

The Niagara Anglers Association has been taking part in the fish stock for 10 years. Joe Allan with the group says the main focus of the stock is to bring families closer together.

“You know, a father and a son, or a mother and daughter. Get them all together, They come down here, they do a little fishing, they have a little picnic,” said Allan.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Caledonia Hatchery organized the trout stock.
