Students launch new recycling project

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – Earth Day is just around the corner and students at Union Pleasant Elementary School in the Hamburg Central School District are launching a new recycling project.

The third, fourth, and fifth graders are cleaning out their desks and sorting through their art supplies in search of old markers for the “Crayola ColorCycle.” These students are joining others across the U.S. and Canada in collecting used markers to be sent to a conversion facility to be recycled into clean-burning fuel.

If you would like us to recognize students in western New York who are making a difference, email us at wakeup@wivb.com. Be sure to include a picture or a video.
