LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) – A woman who allegedly tried to pay for her food at an area McDonald’s with a counterfeit $20 bill was arrested on charges of first degree forgery.

State Police arrested 36-year-old Doreen Maertin of Middleport on Thursday over the incident, which occurred April 5 at an area McDonald’s.

Troopers say Maertin was in the drive-thru lane when she attempted to pay with the phony money. When employees realized it was counterfeit, Maertin sped off without her food or change.

Interviews with employees and security footage led police to Maertin.

She is due back in court April 22.
