Cheektowaga councilwoman running for vacant State Assembly seat

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Cheektowaga woman has officially thrown her hat into the ring for a vacant State Assembly seat.

Angela Wozniak is running for the 143rd District post. The seat has been empty since January, when Dennis Gabryszak stepped down amid sexual harassment allegations.

Wozniak is a Town Council Member in Cheektowaga. She said, “We need elected officials in there to this sort of backdoor bargaining, and fight corruption. And make sure that we weed out ethical violations where they exist.”

Wozniak is running on the Republican ticket. At this point no one else has declared for the race. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
