Big interest in serving food at Canalside

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Judging by the turnout Thursday afternoon, there will be no shortage of food served during events at Buffalo’s Canalside this summer.

The new management team from Global Spectrum invited food vendors to a ‘get acquainted’ meeting on Perry Street Thursday. The theme was ‘collaboration’ now that a different group will be managing events, both large and small.

Dozens of people turned out, including food truck operators who have sometimes faced difficult odds serving concert and event crowds on the Buffalo waterfront. All vendors learned it will be a competitive process to be able to serve at Canalside.

Global Spectrum says its concert series will start in the middle of June and run through August. It’s also aiming to work with third-party producers to bring new festivals to Canalside. The concert lineups and more will be revealed starting next month. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
