AKRON, N.Y. (WIVB) – A 45-year-old man has been arrested on charges he ordered “bath salts” online from a company in China and had them delivered to his local post office.

Rodney Howard was arrested Tuesday on charges of importing, conspiracy to import, and smuggling into the United States, alpha-PVP, a synthetic drug also commonly known as “bath salts.”

Prosecutors say two days ago, Howard went to the Post Office in Akron to pick up the package, which contained 14 ounces of bath salts. Homeland Security agents then took him into custody.

Howard is currently free pending his next court appearance in May. If convicted of all of the charges, he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
